Bengaluru lady Loses Rs 95,000 on fake Swiggy-Go Helpline :
Bengaluru: Controversy marred the launch of Swiggy-Go, the instant service pick up and drop service for packages, in the city when conmen posing as the company's customer care executives swiped off Rs 95,000 from a woman's account once tricking her into revealing bank details, including her UPI PIN.
A 47year old called lady Aparna Thakkar Suri is a resident of Indiranagar, she used Swiggy-Go services to pick up an old smartphone from her and deliver it to Md Bilal who purchased it from her on Olx. Bilal would have paid her online once receiving the phone.
According to a report, a delivery executive picked up the phone from the service station.
However, Bilal known as up Suri at 111 pm mentions he hadn't received the phone nonetheless. Suri was then advised that the delivery had been off which the phone was at the station.
Media reports quoted a Swiggy representative as voice communication that Suri had given Associate in Nthe using the incomplete delivery address and placed the order victimization her son's variety. She had then reportedly switched out her son's SIM card together with her own. Since the order was placed employing a completely different variety, Swiggy records showed no order on her current number.
It was then that Suri set to contact Swiggy-Go's client care and looked for a helpline variety on-line. The number she found, however, was a faux helpline denote by conmen. The person at the other end asked Suri to place another order via a link he sent her online. The link asked Suri for her bank account details, including her UPI PIN. She obliged.
Suri completed her folly on receiving a message from her bank voice communication Rs 95,000 had been debited from her account. When she was known as once more on the 'helpline number', there was no response.
She approached the Baiyappanahalli police, following that a case was registered underneath the IT Act.
Swiggy, meanwhile, aforementioned it had tried to approach the police, however, was told it cannot register a criticism since it had been not the aggrieved party within the case,
