If not done till October 31, these 7 crore mobile users numbers will be closed forever

The number of about 7 crore mobile users may be closed after 31 October in the country. Mobile users will have to port their mobile number before the deadline of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). TRAI has said that 7 crore users will have to get their number ported to any other operator by October 31. If these users do not get ported to any other operator until the deadline, then their number will be closed forever. These numbers will not be activated at any further cost. This case is related to the closed telecom company Aircel in the year 2018. In the same year, the loss-making Aircel had to shut down its wireless service after a tough challenge from Reliance Jio and other telecom companies.

What is the whole case of 7 crore users

Telecom company Aircel completely stopped its network service in February 2018 in the country. At that time Aircel had around 9 crore users in the country. The company had asked TRAI to give a unique porting code i.e. UPC for these 9 crore users so that the users of this company can port their mobile numbers to another network. According to the TRAI report, out of these 9 crore users, about 2 crore users had got their numbers ported to another network provider, but till date, 70 million i.e. 70 million users who have their number in another network Port is not provided. TRAI has kept the last date for porting the mobile number for these 7 crore users, October 31, 2019.

19 million users have made port so far

Aircel in February 2018, after discontinuing its mobile network service, had requested TRAI to provide additional UPC for its users. After this, the telecom authority had issued an additional code for its users on February 28 on the request of Aircel. According to the information, between 28 February 2018 to 31 August 2019, around 19 million i.e. around 2 crore users had got their number ported to another mobile operator service provider company. The remaining 7 crore users of the bank have not yet ported their numbers. These seven crore users include Dishnet customers with Aircel.

This is how Aircel customers can generate UPC

When the network provider Aircel announced to discontinue its service, it asked its users to port the number through the website. However, Aircel's website stopped working after some time. In such a situation, users have to manually port their number. To get the number port manually, users first have to generate the UPC port.

To generate this, mobile users have to go to their message box and write PORT and their mobile number. After this, he has to be sent to the 1900 number. Shortly after sending the message to this number, users will receive the UPC code through an SMS. With the help of this code, Aircel users can port their number to another operator's network.
